Milrem Robotics Unveils Armed THeMIS UGV at UMEX 2024

A Technological Leap in Unmanned Ground Vehicles

At the Unmanned Systems Exhibition (UMEX) 2024, held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Milrem Robotics, an Estonian leader in robotics and autonomous systems, unveiled the latest iteration of its THeMIS unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), now equipped with EDGE Hunter SP loitering munitions, marking a significant advancement in combat capabilities.

THeMIS UGV: Enhanced Lethality with EDGE Hunter SP Integration

The THeMIS UGV, renowned for its versatility and adaptability, has undergone a significant upgrade with the integration of the EDGE Hunter SP loitering munitions. This lethal combination transforms the THeMIS into a formidable weapon platform, capable of engaging targets with precision and standoff distance, significantly enhancing its combat effectiveness.

EDGE Hunter SP Loitering Munitions: Compact, Agile, and Lethal

The EDGE Hunter SP loitering munition, manufactured by Halcon, an EDGE entity, is a lightweight and compact unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) designed for precision strikes. Launched from a tube-based system mounted on the THeMIS UGV, the Hunter SP deploys its wings and tailplane in flight, utilizing an electric motor for propulsion.

With a cruising speed of around 90 km/h and a data-link range of 5 kilometers, the Hunter SP provides operators with real-time situational awareness and target identification capabilities. Its optronic package enables accurate target acquisition, while its payload capacity of 700 grams allows for the integration of various payloads, including surveillance and reconnaissance sensors.

THeMIS UGV: Unmatched Mobility and Endurance

The THeMIS UGV serves as a versatile platform for the Hunter SP loitering munitions, providing exceptional mobility and endurance. Powered by a hybrid system, the THeMIS can operate for up to 15 hours at a cruise speed, covering rough terrains with ease. Its compact size and low profile make it ideal for covert operations, while its silent mode enables stealthy movement, allowing it to navigate undetected.
