WBZ Midday Forecast for January 21, 2024
Good afternoon, Boston! I’m Jacob Wycoff, your WBZ weather forecaster, bringing you the latest updates on what to expect for the upcoming week. Bundle up, folks, because winter’s icy grip is far from over.
January’s Frigid Farewell
As we bid farewell to January, Mother Nature is sending us a parting shot of chilly temperatures and a mix of sun and clouds. Today, we’ll see a high near 45 degrees, but don’t let that fool you; it’ll feel much colder with the wind chill. So, layer up and keep those scarves handy.
Rain or Snow Showers: A Coin Toss
Tonight and into tomorrow morning, there’s a chance of rain or snow showers. It’s a bit of a toss-up, depending on the exact track of the storm. If we do see snow, accumulations could reach up to 2 inches, so keep an eye on the roads and allow extra time for your commute.
Clearing Skies, Colder Temperatures
By Wednesday, the clouds will clear, and the temperatures will take a nosedive. Highs will be in the mid-30s, and lows will dip into the teens and 20s. Brrr! Time to break out the extra blankets and crank up the heat.
Extended Outlook: Winter’s Lingering Embrace
The rest of the week will be characterized by cold temperatures and mostly sunny skies. Highs will hover in the upper 20s to low 30s, while lows will remain in the teens and 20s. It’s not quite time to say goodbye to winter just yet, folks.
Winter Weather Advisory: Stay Alert
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of Massachusetts, including Boston. This advisory is in effect from 7 PM this evening until 1 AM tomorrow morning. Residents should be prepared for slippery road conditions and reduced visibility. Please drive cautiously and give yourself extra time to reach your destination.
