In a move to bolster affordable housing initiatives and enhance the lives of Monroe County residents, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of five dedicated individuals to the Monroe County Housing Authority. Effective immediately, Aaron Castillo, William Gonzalez, Linda Hinchcliffe, Patrick Labrada, and Ailton Lopez will join the authority, bringing their diverse expertise and passion for community service to further strengthen its mission.

With two decades of experience on the Monroe County Housing Authority, Aaron Castillo is a seasoned leader in the field of affordable housing. His unwavering commitment to improving housing conditions for residents is evident in his previous role as Chair of the Bahama Village Redevelopment Authority and his current position as Director of Key West Mortuary and Cremation Center, where he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and management skills. Castillo’s associate degree from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service complements his practical experience, equipping him with the technical knowledge necessary to make informed decisions in his new role.

William Gonzalez: Passionate Advocate for Community Well-being

William Gonzalez joins the Monroe County Housing Authority with a wealth of experience in landscaping and community service. As Senior Account Manager of Bright View Landscaping, he has consistently delivered exceptional results in managing complex projects. His dedication to enhancing the quality of life for residents is evident in his leadership as President of the Marathon Lions Club and his former executive board membership of the Crane Point Board. Gonzalez’s previous role as Manager of Gonzalez Brothers Landscaping, Inc. reflects his entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen, which will be invaluable assets to the Housing Authority.

Linda Hinchcliffe: A Stalwart in Housing Administration

Linda Hinchcliffe brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in housing administration to the Monroe County Housing Authority. During her tenure as Director of Administration for the authority, she played a pivotal role in managing its operations and ensuring the efficient delivery of services to residents. Hinchcliffe’s active involvement in the community, including her role as Chair of Membership for the Key West Lions Club and former member of the Monroe County Personnel Association, demonstrates her commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others. Her educational background, which includes studies at the College of the Florida Keys, complements her practical experience and equips her with the necessary skills to navigate the complexities of housing policy and management.

Patrick Labrada: A Leader in Business and Community Service

Patrick Labrada joins the Monroe County Housing Authority with a passion for serving the residents of Monroe County. As Owner and Mortgage Broker for Southernmost Financial Corporation, he has consistently provided innovative financial solutions to meet the needs of his clients. His commitment to improving the lives of others is evident in his active involvement in the community, including his membership on the City of Key West Utility Board, former Presidency and current membership in the Rotary Club of Key West, and previous election as a Monroe County School Board member. Labrada’s bachelor’s degree from Bethany College provides him with a solid educational foundation and the analytical skills necessary to make informed decisions in his new role.

Ailton Lopez: A Dedicated Hospitality Professional with a Heart for Service

Ailton Lopez brings a unique perspective to the Monroe County Housing Authority as a dedicated hospitality professional with a passion for serving his community. As Bartender and Mixologist for the Islamorada Florida Keys Resort Collection, he has consistently delivered exceptional service to guests, earning recognition for his dedication to excellence. Lopez’s commitment to improving housing conditions for residents is evident in his 12-year tenure as the resident member of the Monroe County Housing Authority. His recognition in 2023 by the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association with a “Recognition of Service Excellence” Award, which honors Monroe County hospitality champions, further underscores his outstanding contributions to the community.
