He turned around a struggling Stanford program, leading the Cardinal to 29 wins in four seasons and an Orange Bowl victory in 2010. At San Diego, he led the Toreros to a 29-6 record in three years.
Harbaugh began his coaching career as the quarterbacks coach for the Oakland Raiders from 2002 to 2003, where he helped lead the team to Super Bowl XXXVII. He also had a successful playing career in the NFL, starting 140 of 177 games and earning Pro Bowl and AP first-team All-Pro honors.
