Quincy Weather Forecast: January 17, 2024

Winter Weather Advisory

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Lee County in Iowa, and Scotland and Clark County in Missouri, until 9 AM. Rain and freezing rain have been occurring, and additional ice accumulations of a light glaze are possible. Very slippery sidewalks, roads, and bridges are possible, which could impact the morning commute.

Rain and Freezing Rain

A shield of light to moderate rain has been moving through the Tri-States. This has mainly been rain due to temperatures above freezing. However, with some locations at or just below 32°, a little freezing rain has occurred too. Therefore, there will be some localized areas of slick roadways.

End of Rain and Possible Drizzle

Through the morning, the beneficial rain will come to an end from the south to the north. The southern tier is already seeing the rain ending. Once the rain ends, a few pockets of light drizzle will be possible with low thick clouds in place. This rain will help to alleviate some of our ongoing drought conditions.

Temperature Forecast

Temperatures will be getting warmer than yesterday, ranging from the upper 30s to near 40°.

Second Wave of Rain

Another wave of widespread rain will arrive later tonight with a few showers lingering into tomorrow morning. Lows tonight will be in the low to mid 30s.

Cloudy Skies and Mild Temperatures

After the rain clears out tomorrow morning, the cloudy skies will remain in place. Despite those clouds, temperatures will be mild again in the upper 30s to low 40s.

Stay Safe During the Winter Weather

With the winter weather advisory in effect, it’s essential to take precautions to stay safe during the morning commute. Slow down and allow extra time for driving. Leave plenty of room between you and the car ahead of you. Be especially careful on bridges and overpasses, as they can freeze before roadways. Dress in layers to stay warm and dry. If you must walk, wear boots with good traction.
