National Weather Highlights

Florida Feeling the Heat (Literally)

Well, folks, it seems like Florida’s traded in its “Sunshine State” title for “Scorching State” this week. After experiencing its hottest May on record, the heatwave is sticking around like that one friend who never wants to leave the party. And honestly, we’re ready for this party to be over. Record-breaking temperatures continue across the state, so Floridians, stay cool out there! But hey, at least the humidity is down, right? (We kid, we kid… kinda.)

But wait, there’s more! As if the sweltering heat wasn’t enough, tropical downpours are lining up to crash this never-ending summer bash early next week. We’re talking a potential flood threat, people! South Florida, brace yourselves for a possible five to eight inches of rain. Looks like those rain boots will be making a comeback sooner than you thought.

Texas-Sized Hail, Y’all

Hold onto your hats, Texas, because things are about to get… well, HUGE. A potentially record-breaking hailstone was discovered in Vigo Park this week, and let’s just say this wasn’t your average pea-sized pebble. This behemoth measured a whopping seven inches in diameter – that’s bigger than a pineapple! If confirmed, this could absolutely obliterate the current Texas state record by more than half an inch. Mother Nature clearly went big in Texas, as they say.
