Ronda Stryker, a trustee of Spelman College since 1997, has a long history of philanthropic endeavors. As the largest individual shareholder of Stryker Corporation, a leading medical technology company, and as vice chair and director of Greenleaf Trust, she has consistently demonstrated her commitment to supporting educational and community initiatives. Her husband, William Johnston, chairman of Greenleaf Trust, shares her passion for philanthropy and has joined her in making this substantial contribution to Spelman College.

In 2013, the couple made a $100 million gift to the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine, named after Stryker’s grandfather. Additionally, their Stryker Johnston Foundation donated $57.7 million to the Foundation for Excellence in 2019 and another $28.2 million in 2020.
